
Women’s Soccer Inks Five for 2016

KENT, Ohio- Kent State women's soccer head coach Rob Marinaro announced the signing of five student athletes to National Letters of Intent for the upcoming season.
Liz Hathaway, Katie Kovacs, Madeline LaVigna, Sierra Henderson-Muschett and Amanda Reed comprise the five-player class, which will suit up for the Golden Flashes in the fall of 2016.
Lizz Hathaway
Goalkeeper – 5'7
Canonsburg, Pa. – Canon-McMillan
PA West ODP/Arsenal FC/PFC
Played at Canon-McMillan High School ... team had a 17-1-1 record her senior year en route to a Sectional Championship in 2015 … A year prior, Hathaway guided her team to a PIAA State Final appearance … Competing for Arsenal FC, Hathaway was a Nike Cup Champion (2015) and a Region 1 ODP Semi-Finalist (2013,2014) … Aside from soccer, Hathaway also lettered in track & field and football … As a kicker, Hathaway holds the school record for most points by a female (16).
Katie Kovacs
Midfield/Forward – 5'7

Kovacs was a four-year letterwinner in soccer and a two-year letterwinner in basketball for Toledo Central Catholic … A three-year team captain, Kovacs was also a three-time first team All-TRAC selection, and a two-time first team All-District honoree … She also earned All-State honors her senior season, second team All-District as a sophomore and honorable mention All-District as a freshman … Also, Kovacs' GTFC club team competed in the MRL League and Ohio North State Cup … Kovacs was a member of the National Honors Society, Presidential Ambassador Club and the Side Line Spirit Club.

LaVigna was a four-year starter compiling a 71-14-3 record at Peters Township … A three-time WPIAL All-Section honoree, LaVigna helped her team to a State Championship and a No. 1 ranking in the country by Max Preps … During her senior campaign, she guided the PTHS Indians to a 14-5-0 record en route to earning WPIAL All-Section, All-WPIAL and Almanac Elite II honors … LaVigna and the Beadling Soccer Club finished runners-up at the U19 Nationals, and were four-time PA West State Cup Champions and 2014 Region I Champions … LaVigna's older sister, Abigail, is currently a junior on the Kent State soccer team.
Sierra Henderson-Muschett

Woodbridge Strikers/Provincial Team
Henderson-Muschett led the Woodbridge Strikers to a U14 Girls OYSL Championship, a U14 Quebec-Ontario Cup Championship and was a runner-up at the U15 girls OYSL … Her U15 Provincial team captured a 2013 National Championship and a U16 Quebec Series Championship … During club play Hednerson-Muschett competed with the Bradford Eagles at U16 and most recently, played up with the Unionville Miliken Soccer Club which was comprised of some the best soccer players in the province of Ontario.
Amanda Reed
Center Back – 5'6
Cincinnati, Ohio – Ursuline Academy
Ohio Elite Soccer Academy
Earned first-team All-Girls Greater Catholic League (GGCL), first-team All-City and first team All-Southwest Ohio during her senior campaign at Ursuline Academy … In her four-year career, Reed tallied eight goals and posted four assists and helped the Lions to a district final appearance in 2014, a regional final appearance in 2013 and a district championship in 2012 … Reed also earned Academic All-Southwest and First Honors all four years, and was a member of the National Honor Society … Last summer with Ohio Elite Soccer Academy, Reed was a Top-25 qualifier for ECNL Champions League Playoffs and was selected to participate in the ECNL PDP for top players.
