No. 7 Women's Golf Set to Start Spring Season on Monday

Kent State's nationally-ranked women's golf team will look to continue its hot streak as it starts its spring season this week at the 2016 Mid-American Match Play Challenge hosted by Bowling Green in Bradenton, Florida, on Monday and Tuesday.
The team is coming off three-straight tournament victories that completed the fall schedule and gave them a No. 7 ranking according to Golfstat.

Event Info
• The tournament will consist of four rounds
• Round one and the quarterfinal round will be played on Monday
• The semifinals and finals will be played on Tuesday
• As the No. 1 seed in the event, the Golden Flashes will have a bye into the quarterfinals
• They will face the winner of Ohio/Oakland with tee times from noon to 12:28
• Tuesday's semifinals are set to begin at 7:30 a.m. and the finals round is scheduled for 1:00 p.m.
Chasing History
• If Kent State wins the tournament, they will have won four-straight for the first time in program history
• With a win at the Mid-American Conference championships this April 22-24, the program will have won 18 consecutive titles, setting a new record for the conference, no matter the sport
• The Golden Flashes have set a new team season scoring average the past two years and currently are nine strokes under that mark with a 287.75 team average
• All five regular players have a season scoring average of 73.25 or less, putting them all in line to break the single season record of 73.58 set last year by Phaewchimplee
• The junior from Thailand is also Kent State's current career scoring average leader with a 73.72 average score through 74 collegiate rounds
• Senior Kim is leading the team so far this season with three top-five finishes, including one win, in four events
• She is a top-25 nationally ranked golfer with a 71.50 average
