Kent State will compete to break the Mid-American Conference record for the most consecutive championship titles this weekend when it goes for its 18th-straight at the 2016 MAC Championships.

• The Golden Flashes will be paired with Toledo and Eastern Michigan in the opening round on Friday with tee times beginning at 10:30 a.m.
• Second round tee times will begin at 8:00 a.m. on Saturday
• The final round of the championship will be Sunday, April 24 with tee times starting at 8:00 a.m.
Event History
• Last season, Kent State shot a 918 to finish at 54-over for the ten-stroke lead
• The win tied Eastern Michigan's men's swimming and diving team for the most consecutive MAC championships in conference history
• Doyon won the event in 2015. Phaewchimplee placed 4th last year and finished in 3rd place as a freshman
• The Golden Flashes posted the lowest winning score of the championships in 2001 after shooting an 887
• The team's biggest margin of victory was a remarkable 66 strokes in 2002
• No other MAC team has been closer than ten strokes of the lead after the final day
Postseason Possibilities
• With a win, Kent State will move on the NCAA Regional play May 5-7
• The 2016 NCAA Division I Women's Golf Championships selections announcement will be aired Monday, April 25 at 6:00 p.m. on the Golf Channel
• 72 teams and 24 individuals will be selected to compete at regionals, each featuring 18 teams and six individuals
• This year's four regional sites are Stanford Golf Course in Stanford California, hosted by Stanford University; Traditions Club in Bryan, Texas, hosted by Texas A&M; University Club in Baton Rouge, Louisiana, hosted by LSU; and Shoal Creek Club in Shoal Creek, Alabama, hosted by Alabama
• The six low teams and three individuals not on those teams will move on the national championships at Eugene Country Club in Oregon May 20-25
• The women's championships will be aired live for the second year in a row on the Golf Channel
