
Track and Field Recognized by USTFCCCA with All-Academic Honors

NEW ORLEANS, La. – Kent State's men's and women's track and field programs as well as 14 individuals were recognized by the U.S. Track and Field and Cross Country Coaches Association with All-Academic honors as announced on Thursday, July 14.

There were 342 total teams (220 women's | 122 men's) honored by the USTFCCCA while there were a total of 1,480 individuals (910 women | 570 men) to earn USTFCCCA All-Academic honors for the 2016 season.
Kent State's men's team qualified for the All-Academic team honor with a grade-point average (GPA) of 3.184 while the women's team qualified with a GPA of 3.452. In the spring, the women's team saw 44 of its student-athletes finish with a GPA above 3.0, with 12 student-athletes recording a perfect 4.0. The men's team also had an impression end to the spring semester, finishing with their highest in-season GPA in program history at 3.207.
The 14 individuals to receive the honor include 10 women – Ada Nicholson-Burley, Dior Delophont, Roseanne Erickson, Morgan Estes, Taylor Farquhar, Jackie Leppelmeier, Rebecca Leppelmeier, Jai'Lyn Mosley, Lauren Pannell and Sam Tollerud – and four men – Justin Bailey, Samory Fraga, Tyler Jones and Jesse Oxley.
To qualify for the USTFCCCA All-Academic Track and Field Team, the student-athlete must have compiled a cumulative grade point average of 3.25 and have met at least one of the following athletic standards:
• For the indoor season, a student-athlete must have finished the regular season ranked in the national top 96 in an individual event or ranked in the national top 48 (collective listing) in a relay event on the official NCAA POP list provided by TFRRS.org
• For the outdoor season, a student-athlete must have participated in any round of the NCAA Division I Championships (including preliminary rounds).
Teams must accumulate a GPA of 3.0 or higher to qualify for the All-Academic honor.
