Petursson Named MAC Men's Golfer of the Week

CLEVELAND – Kent State University sophomore Bjarki Petursson has been named Mid-American Conference Men's Golfer of the Week, as announced Wednesday.
Petursson competed in Minnesota's Gopher Individual tournament and came away with a four-stroke victory over three rounds. He recorded a seven-under par score of 209 (70-70-69). He shot under par in every single round of the tournament.
Petursson had the best weekend of his career. In each round, he was nearly five strokes below his season average as a freshman. His 69 in the final round matched the best 18-hole score of his career. It was his first collegiate title, with his previous best finish recorded as seventh.
The Golden Flashes next compete in the Maui Jim Invitational in Scottsdale, Arizona, beginning Sept. 24.
