STOW, Ohio- Donavan Capehart and Karli Paracca found the net just five minutes apart in the second half, giving Kent State soccer a 2-0 win over Northern Illinois Friday evening, a match that was delayed and moved to Stow-Munroe Falls High School due to weather. The Flashes notched their seventh straight win, moving to 7-1-0 (3-0-0 MAC) on the season, while the Huskies drop to 3-5-2 (2-1-0 MAC).
Kent State turned in another solid defensive effort, not allowing Northern Illinois to register a shot on goal for the entire match, earning its second consecutive shutout. The Huskies were only able to get off five shots, all of which came in the second half.
The Flashes had a good look at goal in the first minute of the game as Capehart found space in the Huskies' box and got a shot off that was saved by Amy Annala.

Donavan Capehart got the scoring started in the 52nd minute following a loose ball in the box that Jenna Hellstrom was able to flick on to Capehart who beat the Huskie keeper for her second goal in as many games. The assist gives Hellstrom 27 for her career, which ties Nicole Downey '00 for the Kent State record.
The Flashes would keep the momentum going adding another goal in the 56th minute. Hayden Pascoe played a cross into the box that was misplayed by the Northern Illinois defense, allowing Karli Paracca to get a foot on the ball and put it in the net.
