
Women's Golf concludes fall season with 4th place finish at Cardinal Cup

SIMPSONVILLE, Ky. – The No. 16-ranked Kent State Women's Golf team concluded its fall season on Sunday by tying for fourth place at the Cardinal Cup.
On what was a roughing day for scoring for all 15 teams in the field, the Golden Flashes shot 310 in the final round. The 22-over-par day put the Flashes 31-over for the tournament (293-292-310–895) and into a tie for fourth with No. 46 East Carolina. Tournament host Louisville claimed the team title. The 41st-ranked Cardinals shot 13-over par over three rounds for a an eight-shot win over No. 15 Illinois. No. 36 Wisconsin was third at 28-over.
The Flashes' low round of the day on the par-72, 6,250-yard University of Louisville Golf Club was posted by Pimnipa Panthong (74-73-74–221). Her 74 included birdies at the par-five fourth and 17th holes and another birdiie at the 373-yard 11th. Panthong also finished in a four-way tie for fourth individually at 5-over-par for the week.
Kent State's Michaela Finn (74-70-81–225) and Kory Nielsen (71-72-82–225) finished tied for 19th place at 9-over par, while Karoline Stormo (74-77-78–229) finished tied for 34th and Kelly Nielsen (74-80-77–231) tied for 39th.
The Flashes return to action Feb. 5-6 when they travel to Bradenton, Fla. for the their spring-season opener at the Mid-American Match Play Challenge.
