KENT, Ohio – The Kent State University field hockey team will compete in its final match of the regular season Saturday at noon, facing the Ohio Bobcats at Murphy-Mellis Field.
Kent State will celebrate senior day prior to the match, honoring seven student-athletes: Jessica Nesbitt, Silvia Figa Malgosa, Jamie Fries, Shannon Talbot, Eilidh Thomson, Ines Delpech and Alison Harmatz. The 2017 senior class is one of the most accomplished in program history, having won back-to-back-to-back championships heading into their senior year.
The game will also serve as the team's Awareness Game for C.I.A.N.E. for more information and a link to donate, click HERE.
The game is the final run through before the MAC Tournament, hosted by Kent State Nov. 3-4. All four seeds are locked into the tournament, with Kent State claiming the second seed. Miami will be the top seed, while Longwood and Appalachian State will take third and fourth, respectively.
Kent State will be competing Saturday to stay in the hunt for regular season MAC Championship. A win Saturday and a loss by Miami on Sunday would give Kent State a share of the title.
Ohio can tie App State in the win column with a victory Saturday, but cannot get into the postseason. The Bobcats are 3-2 over their last five matches, outscoring teams 10-6. They will end their season Sunday at Louisville.
Live video and stats will be available for the match. Check back with KentStateSports.com after the match for a recap.
