KENT, Ohio – The No. 11 Kent State University men's golf team will compete at UNC Wilmington's Seahawk Intercollegiate March 19-20 at the par 72 Country Club of Landfall in Wilmington, North Carolina.
Nearly halfway through the spring, the men's golf team is currently playing as well as anyone in the nation. The Golden Flashes hold an average scoring park of 71.41, ranking third in the nation and only short of Vanderbilt and Baylor. The team is -0.13 vs. par, making them one of four teams in the nation under par on average as a team.
The Flashes are coming off a second place showing at the General Hackler Championship in Myrtle Beach, South Carolina. Entering the final day of the tournament, Kent State was one of three teams under par. However, inclement weather ended the tournament with the Flashes in contention. The Flashes were ahead of No. 9 LSU by two strokes, and the rest of the field by 13 strokes or more.
Ian Holt was second by one stroke in the tournament and earned MAC Golfer of the Week honors.
Gisli Sveinbergsson was also in the top-10. Overall, the Flashes maintained their entire lineup's place in the national rankings. All five golfers in Kent State's lineup rank in the top 190 in the nation, led by Holt at 14th.
There will be no live scoring for the Seahawk Invitational. Check back with KentStateSports.com for updates after each day of competition.
