Spring Practice in Final Week

Now in its final week of spring practice, Kent State has made a few adjustments in 2017:
Junior Davonte James has moved from defensive line to the offensive line.
The initial transition put James at tight end to begin spring practice. But when a need at guard opened up, James was asked to make another change. He agreed and has since shown a natural ability to explode off the snap and seal off defenders with his athletic ability.
"I get a lot of help from my teammates," James said of learning the new position. "I just keep my options open and do whatever I can to help the team."
Making the move to defensive line from linebacker is senior Marques Moore.
Now playing the "Leo" position, Moore's strength gives him the ability to be in a three-point stance on the line of scrimmage. Maintaining the athletic ability of a linebacker, he can also line up behind the line moving laterally as he adjusts to the offensive formation.
Junior Matt Bahr has moved up to linebacker from safety.
Adding some muscle in the offseason, Bahr's size gives him the ability to shed blocks before making tackles.
"I knew if I wanted to get on the field more, linebacker would be the spot," Bahr said. "I went to Coach Needham and Coach Burrow and said I feel I can put the weight on."
Junior Quan Robinson has moved from cornerback to safety. With a proven ability to cover receivers when needed, Robinson can now take on a big picture role within the defense.
Junior Stefano Millin, who has seen action at center and right tackle, has moved to left tackle.
The Golden Flashes conclude spring practice on Friday, March 24.
