Panthong Earns MAC Golfer of the Week

CLEVELAND - Kent State women's golfer Pimnipa Panthong has been named MAC Golfer of the Week for her win at the Henssler Financial Intercollegiate.
The No. 14 Kent State University women's golf team won its second tournament in a row this week, taking the victory in Georgia. For the second week in a row, the Golden Flashes had a freshman take the individual title, as Panthong won her second tournament at 3-under par 213. Panthong came out swinging with the best first round in the field, shooting a 6-under par 67. She had five birdies in the round and an eagle on the ninth hole. She held onto the lead in the next two rounds with back-to-back 73's.
Panthong's first round score of 67 is the fifth round of 67 or better in her career. In less than a year of collegiate competition, that is already a Kent State career record. Ranked 11th in the country, she has finished in the top-20 in every tournament this year and claimed top-5 finishes in six of nine outings. This week, Panthong won the title against five other top-100 ranked individuals.
The Flashes will play one more regular season tournament before hosting the MAC Championships, competing in the Lady Buckeye Invitational in Columbus, Ohio April 15-16.
