
Women’s Track and Field Wins Five Events on Day Two of Northeast Ohio Quad

AKRON, Ohio – The Kent State women's track field teams secured five event victories Saturday to conclude the Golden Flashes weekend at the Northeast Ohio Quad.
Four of the Golden Flashes victories came on the track as Hannah Fleck won the 800m (2:12.55), Caroline Sauers won the 1,500m (4:42.25), Morgan Arena won the 3,000m (10:14.58) and the 4x100 relay team of Kayla Seymour, Jorian Ordway, Mi'Angel Daniels and Bennisha Nunn collected their second win in as many weeks with a time of 45.87. The fifth victory was claimed by Jai'Lyn Mosley in the discus with a mark of 49.39m (162' 00").
With a time of 11.96 seconds, Nunn finished third in the 100m dash followed by Cayla Carey in fifth (12.07), Samantha Shaver in sixth (12.22) and Ashley Grazen in eighth (12.29). Carey also took sixth in the 200m dash at 24.89 seconds, finishing behind Seymour who took fifth at personal-record 24.75.
Lauren Burnett finished runner-up in the 400m dash at 56.38 seconds, while Aiyanna Crawford took fifth at 57.27. Taking third in the 800m was Swann Phelippeau with a time of 2:15.82. Finishing in spots 2-4 behind Arena in the 1,500m was Olivia Davis (4:44.38), Sarah Pack (4:45.36) and Rachel Slingluff (4:51.71).
In the 100m hurdles, Daniels finished runner-up with a time of 13.75 seconds. Taylor Farquhar and Tyler Williams took second and third in the 400m hurdles with a times of 1:00.84 and 1:02.91, respectively. The 4x400m relay team of Williams, Farquhar, Seymour and Crawford captured second with a time of 3:45.06.
Sam Tollerud was Kent State's top finisher in the pole vault, taking second at 4.16m (13' 7.75"). Taking third-place was Morgan Estes at a height of 4.01m (13' 1.75"), followed by Maria Horrigan in the fifth at 3.86m (12' 8"). Tollerud and Estes now rank fifth and 22nd, respectively, in the NCAA East Region standings.
In the high jump, Lauren Pannell finished in third-place with a season-best mark of 1.67m (5' 5.75"), while Chelsea Laury finished tied for sixth at 1.57m (5' 1.75").
In the dual meet scoring format, Kent State defeated Ashland 98-57 and Youngstown State 101.5-66.50 but fell to Akron 105-77.
