NEW ORLEANS – Kent State's men's and women's track and field programs have been honored with All-Academic Team honors from the U.S. Track & Field and Cross Country Coaches Association (USTFCCCA), the organization announced on Thursday.
In order to earn All-Academic Team distinction, a program must have at least a 3.00 cumulative team GPA. The Golden Flashes' men's team posted a 3.163 cumulative GPA, while the women finished with a 3.366 cumulative GPA.
Kent State is one of only three Mid-American Conference schools to have both their men's and women's teams honored.
The Golden Flashes also boasted seven individuals that earned USTFCCCA All-Academic honors, which is second-most in the conference. The men's team had Trevor Detillion and TJ Lawson recognized, while Taylor Farquhar, Maria Horrigan, Jai'Lyn Mosley, Danniel Thomas and Sam Tollerud represented the women's squad.
To qualify, the student-athlete must have compiled a cumulative GPA of 3.25 and have met at least one of these athletic standards.
For the indoor season, a student-athlete must have finished the regular season ranked in the national top 96 in an individual event or ranked in the national top 48 (collective listing) in a relay event on the official NCAA POP list provided by TFRRS.org.
For the outdoor season, a student-athlete must have participated in any round of the NCAA Division I Championships (including preliminary rounds).
