
Men’s Golf Preps for Bank of Tennessee Intercollegiate

KENT, Ohio- The Kent State University men's golf team will compete in the 21st annual Bank of Tennessee Intercollegiate. East Tennessee State plays host to the tournament in Jonesborough, Tenn., which is set for Friday-Sunday, Oct. 12-14.
Kent State will compete in the three-day, 54-hole tournament with 18 holes of play each day on the Blackthorn Club at the Ridges, a par-72, 7,147-yard course.
The elite 14-team field includes eight programs that participated in the 2018 NCAA Championship. Five teams, including Kent State, are ranked.
Joining the Flashes are, No. 44 Virginia, No. 15 Penn State, No. 12 Louisville, and No. 6 Tennessee. Also joining the ranked team are Coastal Carolina, ETSU, East Carolina, Furman, Missouri, UNC Wilmington, VCU, Villanova, Virginia Tech, and Wake Forest.
The Flashes won the event in Jonesborough, Tenn. in 2011. Last year, Kent State took second with a 5-under par score, only bettered by Penn State.
Kent State will start seniors Bjarki Petursson and Gisli Sveinbergsson along with junior Chris Doody, sophomores Josh Gilkison and Will Kurtz, and freshman Johnny Travale.
Petursson was a highlight for the Flashes in last year's tournament with a 6-under 66 final round score that placed him in the top-10 finishers.
