Flashes in Second Through Round One of Betsy Rawls Longhorn Invitational

AUSTIN, Texas- After the first 18 holes of the Betsy Rawls Invitational, the No. 16 Kent State women's golf team holds the second spot on the leaderboard.
Kent State trails tournament host and leader Texas (291) by three strokes as it finished the opening round with a 6-over par 294.
Pimnipa Panthong led the Flashes' efforts in the first round after an even-par score. Panthong went 17 holes for par or better with a birdie on the par-4 hole 15. She sits in a tie for fourth place.
Not far behind Panthong is teammate Kory Nielsen, who shot a 1-over par 73 score. Nielsen had a bit of trouble on her opening hole but finished the front nine with eight straight pars. The sophomore had a bogey-free back nine holes with two birdies. Nielsen sits tied for eighth headed into round two.
Chloe Salort is tied for 14th after she fired an opening round score of 2-over par 74. Salort finished the day with a pair of birdies. Michaela Finn is tied for 20th with a 3-over par 75 score, while Karoline Stormo rounds out the lineup tied for 41st at 6-over par.
Marissa Kirkwood is competing as an individual and is tied for 41st with a 6-over par 78 score.
