Flashes Tied for First in Second Day of Betsy Rawls Longhorn Invitational

AUSTIN, Texas- After the second round of the Betsy Rawls Invitational, the No. 16 Golden Flashes moved into a tie for first place on Saturday.
Kent State shot a second-round team-low 7-under par 281 that moved them up in the leaderboard to a tie for first with tournament host Texas. The Flashes and Longhorns sit at 1-under 575 after 36 holes.
Tied for fourth place are teammates Michaela Finn and Kory Nielsen who are both at even-par 144 score. Finn finished the day with an impressive bogey-free round of golf and shot a second round score of 3-under par 69. The senior finished the day with three birdies. Nielsen went 15 holes for par or less and completed day two with a 1-under score. After a bogey on her first hole, Nielsen wiped it away with a birdie on the par-3 second hole. The sophomore finished the day with the day with four birdies.
Karoline Stormo jumped 33 spots up the leaderboard and is now tied for eighth after a 5-under par round. Stormo had a bogey-free round with five birdies. After a birdie on the par-5 11th hole, Stormo hit back-to-back birdies on the 14th and 15th hole before ending her birdie run on the 17th hole. For the tournament, the junior is at 1-over par 145.
Chloe Salort mirrored her first round score and finished the day at 2-over par 74 and is tied for 14th at 4-over. Pimnipa Panthong rounded out the Flashes' lineup after she fired a 6-over par 78 score and is tied for 25th at 6-over par 150.
Marissa Kirkwood is competing as an individual and bettered her score with an improved second round. Kirkwood completed the second round with a 2-over par score and is 8-over 152 for the tournament.
