Eight wrestling teams will each get their 2018-19 seasons started with four dual meets Friday at the Kent State Duals. Action on four mats begins at 1 p.m. inside the Kent State Field House. The host Golden Flashes will have a number of new faces in the lineup, beginning with their first dual against Kent State Tuscarawas.
Once all four first round duals are completed, the Flashes will take on Lindsey Wilson. Later, in its third round of competition, Kent State will take on Cowley College. In the final round, teams will be paired against one another based on won-loss records from the first three duals. The other four teams in the field include Ashland, Otterbein, Lake Erie and Mercyhurst North East.
A wide variety of Flashes are expected to see the mat at least once on Friday.

The event will also have a unique twist. As wrestling occurs on the mat, Head Coach Jim Andrassy will be taking phone calls from alumni and supporters as part of a fundraising telethon.  And it can all be seen live on the Kent State Wrestling Facebook page for the duration of the event. Many of the Flashes' former MAC champions and All-Americans are expected to call. Wrestling Crowdfunding Page
Friday will begin a busy weekend for most of the Golden Flashes, who will participate in the Clarion Open on Saturday, Nov. 3. The tournament can be seen on FloWrestling.
