Women’s Basketball Fights to Final Buzzer Against 17th-Ranked NC State

RALEIGH, N.C. – Redshirt junior Megan Carter scored a game-high 22 points as the Kent State women's basketball team fell to No. 17 NC State, 78-61, Sunday afternoon inside of Reynolds Coliseum. After trailing by 19 points at halftime, the Golden Flashes won each of the final two periods by a point.
Kent State (0-2) shot just 17-for-55 from the floor and 9-for-29 from three-point range in the contest, while the host Wolfpack went 29-for-53 overall and 13-for-23 from long range. The Flashes did a good job of getting to the free throw line, converting 18 of 22 attempts.
Freshman Asiah Dingle scored all 13 points of her points after halftime. Freshman Lindsey Thall added 10 points and freshman Hannah Young had seven points off the bench.
NC State held a 36-32 rebounding advantage, but Kent State led 12-9 in offensive rebounds. Senior Merissa Barber-Smith pulled down five of her team-high eight rebounds on the offensive end. Carter added seven boards.
The Flashes open the home schedule next weekend by hosting the Kent State Classic inside of the M.A.C. Center. Kent State plays Northern Kentucky on Saturday, Nov. 17 at 5 p.m. and Oakland on Sunday, Nov. 18 at 1:30 p.m.
