CLEVELAND – Two Kent State players were named to the 2018 All-Mid-American Conference Team Wednesday, as announced by the league office. Freshman kicker Matthew Trickett (Cleveland, Ohio) was named to the first team, while senior defensive lineman Kalil Morris (Columbus, Ohio) earned a spot on the second team.
"I'm extremely proud of the hard work both Matt and Kalil have put in," Head Coach Sean Lewis said. "They prove that if you find ways to better you best on a daily basis, good things will happen. And their hard work was rewarded today for the great seasons they had."
Trickett connected on 14-of-17 field goal attempts and 33-of-34 extra points. His .824 field goal percentage ranked 25th in the nation. He also took on punting duties in six games.
Morris embraced the nose tackle role in the Flashes' new 3-4 defense and often drew double teams at the line. He totaled 47 tackles ranked second on the team with 6.0 tackles for loss. Morris also blocked a pair of kicks and recorded 2.0 sacks.
Kent State is now making its final preparations for the early signing period as national letters of intent begin coming in on Dec.19.
