KENT, Ohio- The Kent State men's basketball program opens the 2018-19 season in the Northeast Ohio Coaches vs. Cancer Doubleheader against host Cleveland State on Saturday, Nov. 10 at 7 p.m. at the Wolstein Center.

FLASH FACTS
-The Kent State University men's basketball team enters the 2018-19 season with six returners and a slew of newcomers, both freshman and transfers.
- The returners include three starters in Jalen Avery, Danny Pippen, and Jaylin Walker. Walker is the team's highest scorer returning (16.6 ppg), Jalen Avery led the nation last season in assist/turnover ratio (5.04) and was the only Flash to start all 34 games. BJ Duling returns to the frontcourt along with Akiean Frederick bringing senior leadership at the position. Mitch Peterson returns to the guard spot.
- Kent State will have to replace the production of two starters in Kevin Zabo and Adonis De La Rosa. Zabo leaves after averaging 12.9 ppg, while De La Rosa averaged 11.8 ppg and 7.6 rpg.
- 2018-19 will also mark the debut of juniors Kain Harris and Philip Whittington, who sat out last season after transferring from Tulane and USC Upstate.
- The incoming class is highlighted by two freshmen in Anthony Roberts and DeAndre Gholston. Roberts is a Highly talented freshman that scored 22.0 ppg, 6.0 rpg at Detroit Henry Ford HS, while Gholston is a wing player that averaged 22.0 ppg and 6.0 rpg at 21st Century Charter. Other highlighted returners who will add depth are juniors CJ Williamson, a guard from Chipola College, junior Antonio Williams from powerhouse Indian Hills Community College.
- The nonconference schedule is highlighted with three power 5 opponents traveling to Vanderbilt (Nov. 23), Louisville (Dec. 15) and a rematch against Oregon State (Dec. 28). Other nonconference home games include Shawnee State, Liberty, Alcorn State, Savannah State, Norfolk State, Wright State, Albany, and Oberlin College.
- The Golden Flashes finished last season 17-17 overall and 9-9 in Mid-American Conference play. The Flashes advanced their way to the semifinals of the MAC Tournament as the five seed.
