BUFFALO, N.Y. - Kent State senior Jordan Korinek led all players with 22 points in an 80-42 loss to Mid-American Conference East Division leader Buffalo on Wednesday evening inside of Alumni Arena.
The Golden Flashes (11-13, 4-8 MAC) did an excellent job of handling defensive pressure of the Bulls, which entered the game forcing nearly 23 turnovers per game, and had 14 turnovers in the contest, the fewest by a UB opponent this season. However, no other Kent State player scored more than five points, as the Flashes shot a season-low 13-for-62 (.210) overall from the field and 1-for-17 from beyond the three-point arc.
"We didn't execute offensively very well," said head coach Todd Starkey. "We have to be able to knock down shots, and right now we aren't finishing plays on the offensive end. Jordan had 22 points for us, but we have to have other players step up."
Korinek scored 12 of her points on 5-for-6 shooting in the first half. She finished the game going 10-for-14 at the charity stripe, making 10 or more free throws for the sixth time this season.
Junior Alexa Golden had a team-high 10 rebounds, but Buffalo held a 51-39 edge on the glass. The Bulls also led 40-20 on points in the paint and 12-0 in fast break points.
The Flashes return to the M.A.C. Center for their next two games and will host Ohio on Saturday, Feb. 10 and Miami on Saturday, Feb. 17.
