Champen Punches NCAA Regional Ticket at Texas Relays

AUSTIN, Texas — On just his second attempt in the pole vault of the outdoor season, sophomore Christian Champen secured a spot at the NCAA Division I East Preliminary Round Thursday afternoon at the 91st Clyde Littlefield Texas Relays.
Champen cleared 17'-0.75" to finish tied for seventh in the competition. Only four athletes were able to successfully clear the bar once it was raised to 17'-6.5".
Maria Horrigan and Sam Tollerud will compete Friday in the women's pole vault, which is scheduled for 11 a.m. ET.
Kent State is also scheduled to have athletes in action Friday at the Florida Relays in Gainesville and the Oliver Nikoloff Open in Cincinnati.
