Kent State Track and Field Set for Action in Three States to Open Outdoor Season

The Kent State outdoor track and field team begins competition this weekend with student-athletes competing in three states beginning on Thursday, March 29 and concluding on Saturday, March 31.

The Golden Flashes will send three student-athletes compete in the pole vault at the Texas Relays in Austin, Texas. This year's Texas Relays will provide fans with six different TV windows with coverage. Beginning Thursday evening, Longhorn Network will have of live coverage for the remainder of the meet.
2017 Mid-American Conference runner-up Christian Champen is set for action in the men's pole vault on Thursday at 3:30 p.m. ET On Friday, 2017 MAC runner-up Sam Tollerud and Maria Horrigan will compete in the women's pole vault at 11 a.m. ET.

Grzegorz Kunc and Riak Reese are headed to Gainesville, Florida for action at the Florida Relays on Friday, March 30. Kunc will run in the 800-meter run at 2:40 p.m., while Reese is entered in the 100-meter dash at 12:15 p.m. and the 200-meter dash College Invite at 4:05 p.m. Only 14 sprinters were accepted to compete in the 200-meter dash College Invite, and the field includes All-Americans from this past indoor season.
The Florida Relays will be streamed live on SEC Network +, via Watch ESPN.
Oliver Nikoloff Open (March 30-31) Live Results
A total of 62 total Kent State athletes are slated to compete at the Oliver Nikoloff Open, hosted by the University of Cincinnati. The meet begins with two events on Friday. The women's hammer throw starts the action at 12:30 p.m. with the men's competition to follow. The men's 10K-run is slated for 5:00 p.m. with the women's race to follow. Saturday's action will start at 10 a.m. with the women's javelin, women's pole vault and men's discus. Track events are scheduled for 12 p.m. with the men's 3K steeplechase.
Eight Golden Flashes who earned All-MAC honors last season are slated to compete in Cincinnati. Conference champions TJ Lawson (decathlon), Craig Stevens, Jr. (triple jump), Lauren Burnett (4x400relay) and Tyler Williams (4x400 relay) headline that group, while DJ Ohlson (high jump), David Paliscak (shot put), Dairius Ragland (110-meter hurdles) and Cayla Carey (long jump) are also set to make their outdoor season debut.

The Golden Flashes will head to Akron for the Northeast Ohio Quad on April 6-7.
