Golden Flashes Rally to Take Down Toledo in Overtime, 80-76

TOLEDO, Ohio – Kent State rallied from 17 points down late in the third period to force overtime and leave Savage Arena with an 80-76 victory over host Toledo in a Mid-American Conference Women's Basketball Tournament first round game on Monday night. The win ends a streak of eight consecutive MAC Tournament losses for the Golden Flashes, who beat the Rockets on their home court for the second time this year and avenged being upset by the Rockets in last season's tournament quarterfinals.
The Flashes (13-18) had three players score at least 20 points in the contest. Redshirt sophomore Megan Carter had a bounce-back performance and finished with a game-high 24 points while matching her career-high with six rebounds. Senior Jordan Korinek scored 18 of her 21 points in the fourth quarter and overtime, while senior Naddiyah Cross totaled 20 points and a team-high four assists.
Trailing 53-36 with 2:16 left in the third quarter, Kent State ended regulation with a 36-19 run that forced overtime. The Flashes never trailed during the extra session.
The Flashes will take on No. 2 seed and MAC East Division champion Buffalo in a MAC Tournament quarterfinal games on Wednesday, March 7 at Quicken Loans Arena in Cleveland.
