Elite Competition Awaits Golden Flashes at Tennessee Relays

The Kent State track and field team continues the outdoor season this weekend at the Tennessee Relays. The three-day meet at Tom Black Track at LaPorte Stadium gets started Thursday, April 12 and concludes Saturday, April 14.
In addition to collegiate athletes from 15 different schools, the Tennessee Relays will feature multiple Olympians and other athletes who have achieved success on the international track and field scene. Headlining these athletes is Olympic gold medalist Justin Gatlin, who will team with Christian Coleman, Ronnie Baker and Mike Rogers on Saturday in an attempt to break the 4x100-meter relay American record.
Action starts Thursday with a limited schedule. The women's heptathlon opens the meet at 10 a.m., followed by the opening of the decathlon at 10:30 a.m. The hammer throw begins with the women's competition at 4 p.m. and the men at 6:30 p.m. Individual running events highlight Friday's schedule beginning at 2:45 p.m. and field events at 3 p.m. Saturday features field events at 11 a.m. and relays starting at 12 p.m.
