No.16 Women’s Golf in Striking Distance Heading into Final Round at Lady Buckeye Invitational

COLUMBUS, Ohio- Kent State women's golf finished day one of the Lady Buckeye Invitational alone in second place with a score of 9-over par after rounds of 287 and 298 at the Ohio State University Golf Club Scarlet Course.
The only team ahead of the Golden Flashes on the leaderboard is No. 29 Illinois at 3-over. Kent State sits ahead of No.12 Michigan State by six-strokes and No.15 Washington by 13.
Sophomore Pimnipa Panthong (Nakhon Sawan, Thailand) sits in a tie for first place at 4-under 141. The sophomore shot the lowest first-round score of the tournament with a 68 and carded a second round of 1-over 73. The sophomore leads in birdies after two rounds of play with 10 total and leads in par-5 scoring at 5-under.
Sophomore Karoline Stormo (Tvedestrand, Norway) follows with 1-over par 145 total in a tie for sixth place. She fired a 1-under 71 during her first round, followed by a 2-over 74 in round two. Stormo has collected 24 pars and four birdies after 36 holes of play.
Junior Michaela Finn (Ängelholm, Sweden) finished the two rounds at 5-over 149. Finn finished the first round at 1-over and completed the second round with a score of 76.
Freshman and Chloe Salort (Ermont, France) and junior and Kelly Nielsen (Kent, Ohio) sit tied for 27th at 7-over 151. Salort fired a first-round total of 75 and finished the second round with a 76, while Kelly Nielsen shot a 76 first round and bettered her second round carding a 75. Freshman Kory Nielsen (Kent, Ohio) finished the day tied for 45th carding a 76 opening round, followed by scoring a 78 totaling a 10-over 154 score on the day.
Competing individually is Julia Goodson (Hudson, Ohio) with a 12-over 156 score on the day. She fired an opening 77 round and shot a 79 round two score. Goodson leads the team with 26 total pars.
