
Holt, Johnson, and Petursson Named Srixon/Cleveland Golf All-American Scholars by GCAA

NORMAN, Okla.- Kent State University men's golfers Ian Holt, Chase Johnson, and Bjarki Petursson have been named Srixon/Cleveland Golf All-America Scholars by the Golf Coaches Association of America (GCAA) on Wednesday.
Senior 2018 MAC Golfer of the Year Ian Holt was honored for holding a 3.212 GPA as a business management major. In his last year at Kent, Holt finished the season ranked 32nd in the nation with two tournament wins (The Gopher Invitational and Mid-American Conference Championship). A 2018 All-MAC First Teamer, his scoring average of 71.23 is the second-best mark of all-time at Kent State. He also recorded two rounds of 66 this season, adding another stat to the record books to end his career.
Senior Chase Johnson was honored for his 3.417 GPA in the communications studies program. A 2018 All-Mac First teamer, Johnson finished his career at Kent State ranked 118th in the nation. Johnson finished the season with six top-10 finishes including a sixth-place finish at the NCAA Regionals. On the year, his scoring average was 72.51 with eight rounds in the 60's.
Junior Bjarki Petursson was honored with his 3.292 GPA as a communications major. Also a 2018 All-MAC First Teamer, Petursson ended the season with a 72.72 scoring average. His best finish this season was in the 2018 Mid-American Conference Championship as runner-up medalist.
To be eligible for Srixon/Cleveland Golf All-America Scholar status an individual must be a junior or senior academically, compete in at least three full years at the collegiate level, participate in 50-percent of his team's competitive rounds, have a stroke-average under 76.0 in Division I, 78.0 in Division II, 78.0 in NAIA and 79.0 in Division III, and maintain a minimum cumulative career grade-point average of 3.2. A recipient must also be of high moral character and be in good standing at his college or university.
