KENT, Ohio- For the last 32 years, proud supporters and alumni of the Kent State gold program have gathered at Windmill Lakes Golf Course in Ravenna for the annual Rango Invitational. An essential part of the storied program's fundraising efforts, proceeds from the event help supports the teams throughout the year and are vital in helping Kent State continue its stance as one of the premier institutions for collegiate golf in the country.
The 2018 Rango, developed by Richard and Dennis Rango, wrapped up yet another successful year on Wednesday, Aug. 15. The tournament, which boasted a record number of sponsors, raised over $35,000 to bring the total amount to over $900,000 in the tournament's 32-year history.
After an enjoyable round of golf by the 216 player turnout and steak dinner, Kent State Director of Golf/Head Coach Herb Page began to work his way through the ever-popular post-round Rango Raffle. This year's raffle did little to disappoint as nearly $10,000 in golf equipment, apparel and supplies were given away.
The men's and women's golf programs would like to thank all the sponsors and participants in this year's invitational. Without their generosity, the event and success of the Kent State golf programs would not be made possible.
