Tennant Headlines Indoor Track and Field Performances at Wolverine Invitational

ANN ARBOR, Mich. –Sophomore Grace Tennant was victorious in the shot put for the Kent State indoor track and field team at the Wolverine Invitational Saturday afternoon. The Flashes picked up twelve additional top-five finishes in the first competition of 2019.
Tennant's first place finish in the shot put highlighted Kent State's performance as she posted a mark of 14.94 meters (14'-00.25").
Sophomore Alyssa Matheny finished in second place and set a personal best at 1.75 meters (5'-08.75") in the women's high jump, narrowly missing the title behind Michigan State senior Ellen DiPietro (1.78 meters/5'-10.00").
Junior Nicole Yeargin also picked up a second-place finish and a personal best on the day, posting a time of 55.83 in the women's 400-meter.
Senior Evan Lesnick and junior Christian Champen tied for second place in the men's pole vault, reaching heights of 4.75 meters (15'-07.00"). Junior Mitchell Kubicki tied for seventh at 4.45 meters (14'-07.25").
Junior Mi'angel Daniels crossed the finish line in third place with a time of 8.55 in the women's 60-meter hurdles. Junior Maria Horrigan also grabbed a third-place finish reaching a 3.70-meter mark (12'-01.50") in the women's pole vault. Sophomore Alexandra Thompson came in fourth in the pole vault with the same height.
Sophomore Anthony Milliner finished fourth in the men's triple jump with a mark of 14.58 meters (47'-04.25"), while sophomore Jake Wickey added a fourth-place finish in the men's weight throw with a mark of 19.24 meters (63'-01.50").
Rounding out Kent State's top-five finishes, senior Brandon Wilson tied for fifth in the 60-meter dash (6.91), while senior Brandon Harris posted a time of 22.15 in the men's 200-meter to finish fifth. The men's 4x400 relay team comprised of freshman Asa Hodrick, sophomore Zavien Parker, Kubicki, and sophomore Jacob Mally, finished fifth with a time of 3:27.09.
Up next, the Flashes will compete at the Akron Dual on Friday, January 25.
