ATHENS, Ohio – Kent State scored a school record 31 points in the fourth quarter, but it was not quite enough in an 83-81 loss Wednesday at Ohio.
The loss snaps a seven-game winning streak for the Golden Flashes (10-5, 3-1 MAC), who remain tied for first-place in the Mid-American Conference standings.
Senior Alexa Golden, who scored a career-high 22 points to lead Kent State, played a complete game with seven rebounds, four steals, three assists and two blocks. Redshirt junior Megan Carter added 20 points. Senior Merissa Barber-Smith provided quality minutes off the bench with eight points and nine rebounds.
The Flashes will host Central Michigan in matchup between first-place teams at the M.A.C. Center on Saturday, Jan. 19. Tip-off has been moved up to 12 p.m.
