10/17/2019 10:38:00 AM | Kent State Men's Basketball, Kent State Women's Basketball
KENT, OHIO- Join the Golden Flashes Club on the road this holiday season with opportunities to cheer on our basketball programs in both Texas and Nevada.
The Kent State Men's basketball team will participate in the 2019 West Star Bank Don Haskins Sun Bowl Invitational, and the Kent State Women's Basketball Team will participate in the Las Vegas Holiday Hoops Classic. Golden Flashes fans are encouraged to follow the team to Texas and Las Vegas for these premier college basketball tournaments.
Kent State's Men's Basketball will join UC Irvine, North Carolina A&T, and UTEP in the West Star Bank Don Haskins Sun Bowl Invitational which will be held Dec. 16-17 at the Don Haskins Center in El Paso, Texas.
"We are really challenging ourselves in these games in El Paso," head coach Rob Senderoff said. "Fans are in for some really good games, UTEP is bringing in six new players that had to sit out last year and just beat Texas Tech, last year's national runner-up in an open scrimmage. A lot of people don't realize how good UC Irvine is. That is a team that won 31 games last year, including a game in the tournament, these are going to be really big tests for us."
Kent State's Women's Basketball will join Georgia Southern, Toledo, Troy, St. Francis Brooklyn, and Pacific in the Las Vegas Holiday Hoops Tournament which will be held Dec. 19-20 at South Point Arena at the South Point Hotel & Casino in Las Vegas, Nevada.
"This is an opportunity to help put our brand on the National level, which is something we try to do in every non-conference season, " head coach Todd Starkey said. "This is a chance for the players to travel, our fans to travel and see some quality basketball with games against Georgia Southern and Troy. Fans are going to see an exciting brand of basketball, we've got an exciting team this season."
