Two Match Homestand Set for Friday and Sunday

The Kent State Women's soccer team (3-4-2, 1-0-1 MAC) brings Mid-American Conference play back to Dix Stadium this weekend with a pair of matches. First the Flashes take on Bowling Green (4-4-2, 2-0-0 MAC) on Friday October 4th at 7 p.m. The weekend concludes Sunday, October 6th Toledo (3-7-0, 0-2-0 MAC) at 1 p.m.
Last Game
The Kent State soccer team secured its first MAC win of the season with a 1-0 win against Northern Illinois on Sunday afternoon at the NIU Soccer and Track and Field Complex. Junior Vital Kats netted her second goal of the season in the 47th minute on an assist from junior Cameron Shedenhelm. It was Kats' second goal in as many games after scoring on Saturday at Western Michigan.
Scouting Bowling Green
In its last game, Bowling Green downed Buffalo, 2-1, to improve to 2-0-0 in the MAC. Within the first ten minutes, Senior Maureen Kennedy found the back of the net. Redshirt junior, Nikki Cox scored two minutes into the second half off an assist from Chelsee Washington to lift The Falcons over UB. The winning goal secured Cox's fourth career game winning goal and all four goals have come against MAC opponents at home. With Kennedy's goal, she became one of nine players in BG history to reach the 50-point mark in her career.
Scouting Toledo
In their last game, the Rockets fell to Akron at home, 2-0. Junior goalkeeper Madison Perrin was credited with four saves and freshman Stephanie Currie and sophomore Ashton Cassel led the Rockets with two shots each. The Rockets placed four-of-six shots on goal and forced Akron's keeper to make four saves.
Series History
In the Golden Flashes' last match up with Bowling Green, they were bested 3-1 in Bowling Green. KSU trails in their all-time series 7-14-5. The Flashes' lead the all-time series against Toledo, 12-9-2. In their last matchup, the two teams tied in the Glass City.
Next Up
Kent State will continue MAC play against Buffalo Thursday, October 10th a 7 p.m. in the Empire State. The Flashes look to keep the home field advantage going as they take the rival Zips on Sunday, October 13th at 1 p.m. at Dix Stadium.
