
Flashes Wrap up Regular Season at Murphy-Mellis Field

KENT, Ohio- The Kent State University field hockey team (10-7, 5-0 MAC) is set to wrap up Mid-American Conference play, hosting Longwood at Murphy-Mellis Field at noon. Saturday's game will also serve as Kent State's Senior Day with recognition of the team's eight seniors before the contest.
Last time out, Kent State claimed its fifth shutout victory in a 3-0 win over App State. With the victory, the Flashes claimed the MAC Regular Season title as well as earning the No. 1 seed in the MAC Tournament. Maria Cambra Soler scored two goals in the game, followed by Laila Richter pacing the Flashes with five shots. Kent State wrapped up the weekend hosting Ohio State and fell 4-0.
Flashes Picked Second in MAC Preseason
The Flashes were tabbed to finish second in the Mid-American Conference Preseason Coaches' Poll and received one first-place vote and one vote to win the MAC Tournament Championship. Last season, Kent State finished 8-12 overall and 5-1 in MAC play before falling to Miami in the MAC Tournament Championship match.

Karly Hartwood leads the team with nine goals while Charlotte Wilm has dished out a team-high three assists. Senior goalkeeper Katie Wyman is 7-9 overall and has 94 saves on the season.
Kent State holds a 6-1 all-time series record over the Lancers and has won the last six meetings. Last season, Kent State defeated Longwood, 3-2, on the road in Farmville, Va.
