
Flashes Fifth At Louisiana Classics

LAFAYETTE, La.- The Kent State men's golf team battled through the weather on the first day of the Louisiana Classics in fifth place at 18-over 594 (303-291).
Will Kurtz paces the Flashes with a 36-hole total of 3-over 147. Kurtz finished the opening round with a 3-over score. Kurtz bettered his score in the second round and finished the day with an even-par score. In the second round, Kurtz shot four birdies.
Tied for 19th, Bjarki Petursson finished the two rounds at 4-over 148. In the opening round, Petursson fired a 3-over 75 score and bettered his score in round two by two strokes with a 73. Chris Doody is tied for 45th with a 7-over 151 score. Doody fired an opening round score of 6-over and improved in the second round with a 1-over 73 score. In the second round, Doody shot five birdies in the second round.
Gisli Sveinbergsson and teammate Johnny Travale are both tied for 54th at 8-over 152. Sveinbergsson shot an opening round score of 3-over 75 and finished the second round at 5-over. Travale opened the day with a 9-over 79 and completed round two with a 1-over 73.
Due to expected weather in the area tomorrow, the tee times for Tuesday's third round have been changed to an 8 a.m. shotgun start.
