Fraga Breaks Kent State Long Jump Record at Doug Raymond National Qualifier

KENT, Ohio – Samory Fraga broke his own Kent State record in the long jump and the Kent State track and field program had several individuals post career-best marks at the Doug Raymond National Qualifier on Saturday afternoon inside the Kent State Field House.
In the long jump, Fraga grabbed the victory, reaching a mark of 25'-05.25," breaking his own Kent State indoor record from last year (25'-04.50"). According to TFRRS, his mark currently ranks 20th nationally and third in the Mid-American Conference.
The Golden Flashes won six additional events on the day and added 16 top-5 finishes on the day. On the men's side, Jake Wickey topped the competition in the weight throw with a mark of 65'-10.50." Christian Champen added a field victory in the pole vault, reaching a height of 17'-00.75." On the track, Brandon Harris and Asa Hodrick finished first and second in the 60-meter dash separated by .01 (6.87 and 6.88, respectively). Hodrick also picked up a victory in the 200-meter, with a career-best time of 21.48, while Harris followed in fifth (21.93).
Rounding out the top-five finishes for the men's program, TJ Lawson took second in the high jump, reaching a mark of 6'-06.25," while Zavien Parker finished second in the 400-meter with a career-best time of 48.85. Craig Stevens, Jr. finished second in the the triple jump, leaping a career-best 51'-08.25" with Anthony Milliner following in fourth with a career-best mark of 50'-04.50." Kevin Jones finished fourth in the 800-meter with a career-best time of 1:52.90, and Alex Stamper came in fifth in the 3,000-meter (8:32.06). The Flashes grabbed fourth and fifth in the shot put as Trevor Detillion hit a career-best mark of 55'-04.25" and Walter Petzel heaved a 55'-01.00." Da'One Jordan grabbed a fourth-place finish in the long jump, leaping 25'-09.00."
On the women's side, Nicole Yeargin finished first in the 200-meter for the second meet in a row, topping her career best with a time of 24.05 and moving into third in Kent State's indoor records. Madison Dunlap added a first-place finish in the 3,000-meter, running a career-best time of 10:05.68, while Nicole Flemming followed in third (10:10.81).
Alyssa Matheny and Talia Falco tied for third place in the high jump, reaching a mark of 5'-04.25," while Rachel Banks finished third on the track in the mile with a career-best time of 4:58.29. In the 800-meter, Sarah Pack ran a 2:15.16.
In the shot put, Grace Tennant came in third, throwing a career-best distance of 51'-02.75" and Gabby Bailey followed with a career-best mark of 50'-02.50." Both marks rank in the top-10 in Kent State's indoor records. The women's 4x400-meter relay team finished the day on the track with a fourth-place finish (3:51.17).
The Flashes will conclude the regular season by hosting the Kent State Tune Up on Saturday, Feb. 16 at the Kent State Field House.
