
Walker Earns All-MAC Honors; Roberts on All-Freshman Team

KENT, Ohio- Senior Jaylin Walker and freshman Anthony Roberts were each recognized on Monday with the announcement of the Mid-American Conference all-league squads. Walker earned a spot on the first team, marking the fourth time in the last five seasons a Golden Flash has been tabbed as one of the league's top five players. Roberts earned a spot on the All-MAC Freshman team. The All-MAC teams were determined from voting by the league's 12 head coaches.
A 6-foot-3 guard, Walker leads the Flashes with 21.9 points per game (1st in MAC) and in 3-point field goals per game with 3.4 ( 1st in MAC). This season, he became Kent State's most prolific 3-point shooter leading the program with 288 made field goals, while also becoming the 2nd-leading scorer in program history with 1, 770 points. Walker scored a career-high 36 points in games against Detroit Mercy and Toledo and had back-to-back 30 point games against NIU and Toledo, a first for a Flash since 1984. He produced a team-high 16 20-point outings this season.
Freshman guard Roberts appeared in 29 of 31 games this season with two starts. He averaged 5.6 points, 1.6 rebounds, 1.2 assists per game while collecting 22 steals. Roberts scored a season-high 17 points and had a season-best 7 field goals made against Bowling Green (Jan. 5).
Kent State will return to action on Thursday, March 14 at 2:30 p.m. in Cleveland's Quicken Loans Arena when it begins post-season play in the 2019 MAC Tournament quarterfinals against either No. 5 Central Michigan or No. 12 Western Michigan. The Golden Flashes are the No. 4 see in the tourney and have received a bye in the event.
