
17 Flashes Land NFHCA Academic Honors

KENT, Ohio – The National Field Hockey Coaches Association recently announced its Zag Field Hockey/Division I National Academic Squad for the 2018-19 academic year. Kent State had 17 student-athletes honored.
The Golden Flashes had three student-athletes recognized for earning the distinction in all four years: Aileen Ahlers, Jessica Apelt and Pippa Best.
Kent State was also represented by: Hailie Balachick, Ashley Bonetz, Sydney Carr, Meghan Daly, Azure Fernsler, Helen Harper, Luisa Knapp, Alex Luxardo, Rebecca Nelson, Laila Richter, Sarah Grace Ritter, Clara Rodriguez Setó, Melanie Scibilia, and Hannah Weidman.
The Division I National Academic Squad program recognizes those student-athletes who have achieved a cumulative GPA of 3.30 or higher through the first semester of the 2018-19 academic year.
The Golden Flashes were also recently recognized by the NFHCA as a Division I National Academic Team Award recipient.
On the field, Kent State has played in each of the last five MAC Tournament championship games, winning three titles.
