Karoline Stormo Takes Medalist Honors at Evans Derby

OPELIKA, Ala.- Kent State University junior Karoline Stormo won her third championship of the season as she took medalist honors at the Evans Derby Experience.
Stormo finished the tournament with a 3-under 213 score. The junior finished the final round with a 2-under score after she went 16 holes for par or better and birdied four times, giving her 11 for the tournament. Stormo edged 36 top-100 players in the field for the win, a field where every team ranked in the top-45 standings.
"It's great to see Karoline continue her great play," said head coach Greg Robertson. "She's been such a consistent player for us all year, and has been a big part of our success."
As a team, No. 14 Kent State finished sixth with a 21-over 885 score (292-298-295). No. 11 Florida State took first at 6-over, while No. 3 Duke, No. 2 Texas, and No. 8 Arkansas tied for second at 10-over.
"We are happy with the way we competed this week. This was one of the strongest fields in college golf, and they played right with and beat many of the best teams in the country."
Junior Pimnipa Panthong finished 27th with a 6-over par through 54 holes. Panthong fired a 1-over par in the closing round and with three birdies. Freshman Thitapa Pakdeesettakul took 40th place after finishing the tournament at 10-over. Pakdeesettakul mirrored her second-round score in the final round with a 4-over 76 score.
Senior Michaela Finn completed her final round with a 4-over 76 score and finished in a tie for 48th with a three-round total of 13-over 229. Sophomore Chloe Salort rounded out the lineup with a 15-over 231 score and finished tied for 60th. Salort carded a 5-over 77 score in round three.
Julia Goodson, who competed as an individual, placed tied for 48th with a 13-over 229 score. Goodson shot a 7-over score in the final round.
The Flashes return to action April 13-14 as they compete in the Lady Buckeye Invitational in Columbus, Ohio.
