Detillion Claims Second Straight Discus Title to Conclude Tennessee Relays

KNOXVILLE, Tenn. — Trevor Detillion captured his second men's discus throw title in as many weeks on Saturday to highlight several strong performances by the Kent State track and field team on the final day of the Tennessee Relays.
Detillion unleashed a throw of 183'-5" on his final attempt to win the event. The redshirt junior led the competition following the prelims but sat in second-place after Tennessee's Joseph Maxwell recorded a throw of 178'-4" on his fourth attempt. After finishing runner-up in the discus at the season-opening Raleigh Relays, Detillion won the event a week ago at the Northeast Ohio Quad with a personal-best throw of 185'-8".
The Golden Flashes were represented well in the women's discus throw, as Gabby Bailey and Grace Tennant each had personal-best marks to place third and fourth, respectively. Bailey, who has improved her mark in each of the first three outdoor meets, posted a top throw of 170'-8", which is 10th on Kent State's all-time list. Tennant finished right behind with a mark of 167'-0".
Craig Stevens, Jr. registered a top mark of 52'-8.25" to lead all collegians and place second overall in the men's triple jump. Anthony Milliner soared 48'-11.75" to finish eighth.
Christian Champen cleared a season-best height of 17'-0.75" to tie for third in the men's pole vault invitational. In the women's pole vault invitational, Maria Horrigan took 11th by clearing 12'-7.50" for the second week in a row.
Kent State will head to the Virginia Challenge next weekend for competition on Friday, April 19 and Saturday, April 20.
