
Kent State Concludes Competition at Virginia Challenge

CHARLOTTESVILLE, Va. —Runner-up finishes by Nicole Yeargin and Christian Champen highlighted Kent State's final day of the competition at the Virginia Challenge on Saturday.
Yeargin clocked a personal-best of 54.00 in the women's 400-meter dash invitational, which is the fourth-fastest time in Golden Flashes history. The junior took 0.76 seconds off of her season-opening time last week and now has the second-best time in the Mid-American Conference.
Champen earned his second runner-up finish of the outdoor season in the men's pole vault with a top height of 16'-11.50". Champen has placed in the top-3 in all four outdoor competitions.
Talia Falco added her name to the Kent State record book with the 10th-best mark all-time in the women's jump. Competing in the event for the first time during the outdoor season, Falco cleared a personal-best of 5'-7.75" and earned third-place.
Grace Tennant placed fourth in the women's discus with a top throw of 16'-7", while Gabby Bailey took seventh-place in the women's shot put with a mark of 50'-4.75".
In the men's hammer throw, Jake Wickey had a best mark of 195'-3" for fourth-place.
DJ Ohlson cleared 6'-6" for an eighth-place finish in the men's high jump invitational.
The 4x100 meter relay team ran a time of 46.70 to place fifth.
The Flashes' top individual performers on the track included Clark Bookman, Rachel Banks and Mi'Angel Daniels. Bookman finished 13th in the 3,000-meter steeplechase (9:12.38), Banks finished 18th in the 800-meter invitational (2:10.33) and Daniels finished 19th in the 100-meter hurdles (14.10).
Kent State will head to the Jesse Owens Classic next weekend for competition on Friday, April 26 and Saturday, April 27
