
Five Golden Flashes Advance to Running Finals on Saturday

MUNCIE, Ind. – Junior Nicole Yeargin advanced to the 100-meter dash finals with a personal-best time in the prelims to lead the Kent State women's track and field team on Friday at the 2019 Mid-American Conference Outdoor Track and Field Championships.
Yeargin clocked an 11.68 during the second heat of the event's prelims, which is the third-fastest time in Golden Flashes history. The Bowie, Maryland native qualified for the 200-meter dash finals on Thursday and is also slated to run a leg for the 4x100 and 4x400 relay teams on Saturday's final day of the championships.
As a team, Kent State remains fifth in the standings with 24.5 points.
The Flashes scored seven points in the shot put. Gabby Bailey placed third with a top mark of 51'-5", while Grace Tennant took eighth with a throw of 49'-3.50".
Sarena Choi added two points with a seventh-place showing in the long jump. Choi had a top jump of 18'-8.50".
Kent State had four additional runners advance to Saturday's event finals on the track. Rachel Banks (2:13.03), Sarah Pack (2:14.42) and Kamya Lapsley (2:14.54) all qualified in the 800-meter run, while Mi'Angel Daniels clocked a 14.04 to advance in the 100-meter hurdles.
Saturday's final day of competition will begin with the triple jump at 11 a.m. Running events will get underway at 1 p.m. with the 4x100 meter relay.
