
Track and Field Concludes Regular Season at Campbell/Wright Invitational

The Kent State track and field program will be in action at the Campbell/Wright Invitational this weekend. Field events will be held at the University of Akron with running events taking place at Walsh Jesuit High School.
The javelin and hammer throw will take place Friday, May 3 at Akron's Lee R. Jackson Track and Field Complex beginning at 1:30 p.m.
Saturday will begin on Walsh Jesuit's track at 11:30 a.m. The remaining field events will start at 2:30 p.m. in Akron
Previewing the Flashes
Kent State has a total of 57 student-athletes registered for individual competition this weekend, including 26 members of the men's team and 31 members of the women's team.
The Golden Flashes will have four men's throwers who rank in the top-5 in the Mid-American Conference in action. Trevor Detillion leads the MAC with a PR of 185'-8" in the discus, while his PR of 54'-2.5" in the shot put ranks fifth. Jake Wickey ranks second in the hammer throw (199'-2"), Ryan Demaline is third in the shot put (55'-7") and Bradley Heck is fifth in the javelin (189'-8"). Additionally, decathlon record holder TJ Lawson is scheduled to throw discus.
Other top field athletes slated for competition include Christian Champen (pole vault) and Anthony Milliner (triple jump).
On the women's side, Grace Tennant is registered for three throwing events. Tennant will compete in the javelin on Friday, as well as the discus and shot put on Saturday. She holds top-40 NCAA East Regional rankings in the latter two throws. Gabby Bailey has already posted top-10 program marks in the discus (173'-1") and shot put (51'-1.75") during her freshman campaign.
Christy Nell, Maria Horrigan and Ally Thompson will seek NCAA East Regional qualifying marks in the pole vault. Nell's top height of 12'-9.50" ranks fourth in the MAC, while Horrigan and Thompson are tied for fifth with a top height of 12'-7.50".
Rachel Banks (800m) and Mi'Angel Daniels (100m hurdles) headline action on the track.
Next Up For Kent State
The Golden Flashes will compete at the 2019 Mid-American Conference Outdoor Track and Field Championships on May 9-11 in Muncie, Indiana.
