Bailey Earns Final MAC Women’s Field Athlete of the Week Nod

CLEVELAND, Ohio – Kent State freshman Gabby Bailey has been named Mid-American Conference Women's Field Athlete of the Week for the final weekend of regular season competition, the league office announced Tuesday afternoon.
Bailey unleashed a personal-best throw of 55'-6.5" (16.93m) to win the shot put on Saturday at the Campbell/Wright Invitational. Her mark was the second-best in the country for the week of April 30-May 6 and ranks 13th overall during the outdoor season. She sits second on the Golden Flashes' all-time list behind only 2017 National Champion Danniel Thomas-Dodd.
The Portmore, Jamaica native also ranks eighth on Kent State's all-time discus list with a PR of 173'-1" (52.75m) and has qualified for the 2019 NCAA East Preliminary Championships in both events.
Bailey and the Golden Flashes will compete for conference supremacy this week at the MAC Outdoor Track and Field Championships, which will be held in Muncie, Indiana from Thursday, May 9 through Saturday, May 11.
