
Four Flashes Named Academic All-MAC

CLEVELAND, Ohio- Four Kent State women's golf student-athletes earned Women's Golf Academic All-MAC honors, as the Mid-American Conference recognized a total of 38 student-athletes for their accomplishments this past season.
Senior Michaela Finn, an All-MAC First Team selection, was honored for holding a 3.547 GPA as a Fashion Merchandising major. Finn competed in all 13 tournaments this season with a scoring average of 73.08. She had six top-5 finishes and one tournament win (Illini Invitational at Medinah). As the No. 55 ranked player in the nation, Finn completed 24 rounds for par or better with seven rounds in the 60's. She shot her lowest round (67) at the BYU at Entrada Classic. Finn finished tied for fifth at the MAC Championship and a fourth place finish at the NCAA East Lansing Regional.
Junior Pimnipa Panthong, a Business Managment major, holds a 3.202 GPA. An All-MAC First Team Selection, Panthong competed in all 13 tournaments this season and averaged a 72.79 score. Panthong shot 19 rounds for par or better with seven rounds in the 60's. She had seven top-10 finishes with her best finish at the NCAA East Lansing Regional as runner-up.
Junior 2019 MAC Golfer of the Year Karoline Stormo was honored with her 3.515 GPA as an Exercise Science major. Stormo stands at No. 34 in the latest Golfstat individual rankings. She ranks 15th nationally in scoring average (71.85), a third-best in program history. Stormo had five top-5 finishes this season and tied a Kent State single-season win record with four tournament titles. The junior currently leads the nation with 136 birdies and ranks third-most in KSU history. In the conference tournament, Stormo was crowned the MAC Championships individual medalist and named to the All-MAC First Team.
Sophomore Kory Nielsen was honored for her 3.929 GPA as a Middle Childhood Education major. A member of the All-MAC Second Team, Nielsen competed in eight tournaments this season with a scoring average of 73.96, while completing six rounds for par or better. She had three top-20 finishes and her best finish was 13th at the Lady Buckeye invitational.
The Academic All-MAC honor is for a student-athlete who has excelled in athletics and academics. To qualify, a student-athlete must have at least a 3.20 cumulative GPA and have participated in at least 50 percent of the contests for that particular sport.
