
Flashes Field Hockey Picked Second in Preseason Poll

KENT, Ohio- The Kent State field hockey team has been tabbed to finish second as selected by Mid-American Conference Preseason Coaches' Poll, the conference announced Monday afternoon.
Kent State received a total of 38 points along with a first place vote from the coaches, as well as one vote to win the MAC Tournament Championship.
The Miami RedHawks received five first place votes to win the regular season and will look to continue to build on back-to-back MAC Championships in 2017 and 2018. Last season, Kent State finished 8-12 overall and 5-1 in MAC play before falling to Miami in the MAC Tournament Championship match.
Head coach Kyle DeSandes-Moyer, in her first season with the Flashes, will have All-MAC First Team selections junior back Clara Rodriguez Seto, senior goalkeeper Mary Crumlish, and senior midfielder Berta Jover Llorens return on the field.
All seven teams will compete in the 2019 MAC Field Hockey Tournament hosted at Miami University, competing in a single elimination bracket Nov. 6-9.
Kent State begins the 2019 campaign at home with matches against St. Francis on Friday, Aug. 30 at 1 p.m., and Michigan State on Sunday, Sept. 1 at 1 p.m.
