Track and Field completes Akron Dual

Kent State's men's and women's track and field programs fell to the Zips Friday night at Kent State Field House in the annual Kent State-Akron Dual. The women's team dropped their dual by a score of 86-65, while the men fell in their dual, 84-67. Nine Flashes grabbed individual victories on the night.
Brynn Santos captured two victories on the night in the 60-meter and 200-meter dash with times of 7.90 and 25.70, respectively. Ruby Greenwood finished right behind her in second place in the 200-meter with a time of 25.87.
Ryan Demaline and Walter Petzel also placed in the top two spots for shot put with scores of 55'-3.75" and 54'-9.25", respectively. The women's shot put followed suit with Gabby Bailey and Grace Tennant placing first and second scoring 52'-11" and 51'-7.25". Both Bailey's and Tennant's scores were both personal records.
TJ Lawson also secured his position at the top of the leaderboard with a new personal record (24' 11") in the long jump.
The Flashes had five other athletes finish in the top spot in their respective events. Lillie Franks finished first in high jump for the women (5'-3.75"). Brad Jones won the men's high jump (6'-6.25"). Christian Champen placed on top in pole vault (16'-9.25"), and Jake Wickey won the weight throw (66'-1").
Asa Hodrick picked up two second-place finishes in the 60m and 200m, finishing in 6.87 seconds and 21.33 seconds, respectively.
The Golden Flashes will have select athletes traveling to Arkansas for the Razorback Invitational next Friday (Jan. 31) and Saturday (Feb. 1). The entire team will be back in action for the Akron Invitational on February 7 and 8.
