KENT, OHIO- After an unpredictable last eight months, Kent State Field Hockey is finally set to begin their season with the announcement of the 2021 Mid-American Conference (MAC) spring schedule.
Kent State will play two-game series with the other six MAC teams and a non-conference date with future MAC member Bellarmine. This will be the first season where there will be no conference tournament, the MAC's regular season champion will get the berth to the NCAA Tournament
"Our coaching staff and team are so excited and grateful for the opportunity to compete during spring 2021 for a MAC Championship and the opportunity to go to the NCAA Tournament," head coach Kyle Desandes-Moyer said. "I am already so proud of the all the hard work our staff and team has put in to prepare for this unique season and I'm looking forward to our quest for our 18th MAC Championship!"
Kent State opens the season at Longwood University. The two teams will battle against each other on Friday, March 12 and Saturday, March 13. Kent State will look to get off to a hot start on their quest for an 18th MAC Championship. The two teams split their pair of competitions last year, each team coming out victorious once with a score of 2-1.
After a weekend series at Bellarmine, the Flashes return home to take on Appalachian State on March 26th and 27th. A pivotal weekend matchup follows as Kent State treks out to Oxford to take on Miami. The teams split during the season last year, with Kent State winning the regular season contest and Miami taking the rematch in the tournament final.
The Golden Flashes are home for two of the final three weekends of the regular season with a trip to Ohio University (April 16-17) sandwiched between home weekends with Ball State (April 9-10) and Central Michigan (April 23-24).
Game times for the 2021 season have not yet been set.
