Golden Flashes and Red Flash Set for Hardwood Clash on Wednesday

Kent State begins a stretch of three games in five days when it visits Saint Francis (Pa.) on Wednesday evening. Tip is scheduled for 5 p.m. from DeGol Arena.
The Golden Flashes (0-1) lost to 19th-ranked Ohio State, 103-47, in its first game of the season last Wednesday. Nila Blackford scored a team-high nine points and was one of four Flashes with five rebounds. Mariah Modkins added eight points, while making two of the team's three three-pointers and recording the only steal. Clare Kelly provided four of her team-high seven rebounds on the offensive end and shared the team lead with two assists. Linsey Marchese totaled six points and five rebounds in her Flashes debut and Annie Pavlansky grabbed a career-best five boards.
Scouting Saint Francis (Pa.)
The Red Flash (0-4) seek their first victory of the season. After 33-point setbacks against Big Ten Conference members Michigan State and Penn State, Saint Francis rallied after trailing by 13 in the final period in the home opener, only to lose at the buzzer to visiting Duquesne. Saint Francis went back on the road on Saturday and lost to Drexel, 76-68.
Point guard Karson Swogger, the team's top scorer at 14.3 points per game, had a season-high 20 points against Drexel. Swogger also leads the Northeast Conference with 4.3 assists per game and a 2.83 assist-to-turnover ratio. Guard Lili Benzel (9.0 ppg) scored in double-figures in each of Saint Francis' first three games and has made a team-high eight three-pointers.
