
Flashes Finish Sixth at Seminole Intercollegiate

TALLAHASSEE, Fla.- The Kent State men's golf team finished its first tournament of the spring season in sixth place Sunday at the Seminole Intercollegiate. Sophomore Julien Paltrinieri led the way, tying for seventh individually. The Flashes finished at 876 (+12).
In Sunday's third round, Will Kurtz carded a team-low 69 (-3), including five birdies, to finish with a three-round score of 218 (+2) tying for 13th.
Paltrinieri went 16 holes for par or better in Sunday's round and carded a 70 (-2) score with the help from four birdies. Paltrinieri shot a 54-total of 216 (E).
Josh Gilkison finished tied for 34th with a 224 (+8) after carding a 74 (+2) in the final round. Cade Breitenstine finished tied for 44th with a 226 (+10) following a 76 (+4) in Sunday's round. Chris Vandette shot an 81 (+9) in the final round and tied for 60th with a 230 (+14) score.
Chris Doody, who competed as an individual, tied for 30th with a 223 (+7) score. Doody carded a 74 (+2) in the final round.
Kent State's 48 birdies were the third-highest in the tournament. Paltrinieri shot a team-high 11 birdies and led the Flashes on par 5 holes, finishing -4.
Kent State is back in action March 2-3 as the Flashes compete in the Colleton River Collegiate in Bluffton, S.C.
