Golden Flashes Win Wild Double-Overtime Thriller at Stroh Center

BOWLING GREEN, Ohio – Kent State rallied from an early 19-point deficit and earned a thrilling double-overtime victory over Bowling Green, 96-86, inside of the Stroh Center on Saturday afternoon. The Golden Flashes (17-10, 10-6) moved into a tie for first place in the Mid-American Conference East Division with two games remaining in the regular season.
After freshman Nila Blackford extended the contest with a layup to beat the buzzer in overtime, Kent State scored the first 11 points in the second extra session. Freshman Katie Shumate, who assisted on Blackford's tying basket, poured in a career-best 27 points. Redshirt senior Megan Carter filled the stat sheet with 21 points, nine rebounds and career-high seven assists. Sophomores Asiah Dingle and Lindsey Thall added 15 points apiece. Dingle matched her career-high with six steals while Thall brought down a career-high 12 rebounds for a double-double.
Kent State will host Ohio for the final home game of the season at the M.A.C. Center on Wednesday in a game that features the MAC East co-leaders. Tip is scheduled for 7 p.m.
